Summer Solstice Flying

June 15th, 2009 by webmaster

9he Summer Solstice flying event is still on for Saturday the 20th of June 2009.

There will be a FREE BBQ and FREE soft drinks (as long as stock last) so come along and fly until dark to celebrate the longest day of the year. See flying times and restrictions below.
(and yes we know the 20th isn’t actually the longest day).

We aim to start the BBQ at around 6:00PM

Last years event was damped down by a bit of drizzle, but it dried up and we all eventually had a good time, with the TwinStars with lights being the last up in the near pitch black.

Club Night 4th June - Cancelled

June 3rd, 2009 by webmaster

The Government seem to be encroaching more and more upon our lives, and now they’ve gone and messed up our beloved club meeting.

I only found out myself this afternoon, and this is the first opportunity I’ve had to put this message up.

Really sorry for the (really really) late notice, but due to the elections tomorrow and the fact that Rucstall is the polling station, there will be no club meeting tomorrow, well you can always meet in the bar if you like.

Normal service will be resumed on the 18th June.

A few site updates . . .

February 3rd, 2009 by webmaster

Just wanted to ‘blow my own trumpet’ and let you know about all the hard work that has been going on in the background keeping the website up to date and shiny. 8-)

  • ‘Roys RCTV’ and ‘Robs slope soaring guide’ have links in the Media section on the right to make them easier to access.
  • The site maps have been updated, you know the ones that show where the flying field and club meetings are. They are now provided by GoogleMaps and are fully controllable, you can zoom and move them about, and change them from satellite to standard map views if you want to.
  • I’ve added some maps to Robs sloping guide, the little pin shows the actual points that we fly from, you will still need to zoom and scroll them about to find out how to get to the sites (and use Robs directions), but hey, you can’t have it all !
  • The Events calendar on the right has been added, click on the event to get more info, the list shows events up to three months ahead at the moment, and currently contains all the club meetings for the year plus a couple of invites from other clubs, keep an eye on it as more events are due to be added soon.
  • I’ve now got some statistics software running in the background of the site so I can see how many visits we get, January saw 587 visitors and 3037 pages viewed.
  • Loads more things have been added and updated in the background to keep the site running smoothly, barely a day goes by without an update of one kind or another.

Lastly, if anyone has any suggestions for the site, you can contact me via the webmaster email address.

Horses and Hounds

January 27th, 2009 by webmaster

We’ve received advanced notice of an event taking place around the flying field from the estates office, it is imperative that everyone complies with Ians request.

I just wanted to give you advanced notice of an event that is taking place on the estate on Saturday 28th February this year.
The Vine and Craven hounds are meeting at Manor Farm Deane at 11.am and will be moving off shortly after that going along side your airfield towards the woods. They are laying a trail to follow.
I suggest if you can, to avoid flying any aircraft from about 11.15am until they have gone past you. I reckon they will be passed by 11.45am. just in case any of the horses spook ! There is also the possibility of the odd one coming back pass you through the day, so if you could ask people just be aware of this it would be helpful.

Roy’s RC TV

January 22nd, 2009 by webmaster

Roy and his MB5Roy Thompson has published series of videos of local indoor flying events, we thought it only right that he have his own page here to showcase them.

Click the link on the main menu to the right, under ‘Media’

They are well worth a watch.
