Calling all hands

January 9th, 2012 by chrisbradbury

We’re planning a little tidy up of the field on Sunday the 22nd  of January. As always with things like this, the more hands the easier it’ll be.

If you’re available to help there will be a BBQ on as well (weather permitting).

Hope to see you there.

Hi all,

I’m afraid it’s that time of year again, as everyone’s membership expires on the 31st of December 2011 and this also includes your BMFA insurance. If there are members that wish the club to handle the renewing of their BMFA insurance from now on instead of themselves or another club, this is very easy to do, just let me know.

If you are not paid up by the 31st of December you will not be able to fly at the field from the 1st of January 2012. It is also worth noting that if you do not renew by the 31st of January 2012 that your membership will be classed as lapsed and the joining fee will be required again.

Prices for 2012 are:

Standard Adult Member – £90.00 including BMFA

Senior Member (Over 70) – £70.00 including BMFA

Junior Member (Under 18) – £45.00 including BMFA
Family Membership – £90.00 per senior and £20.00 per junior including BMFA (minimum 1 senior, all family members must live at the same address)

A membership/renewal form is available from this website and MUST be completed along with your payment (accurate details are required for your insurance, incorrect details could invalidate your insurance if you need to make a claim). Payments and forms can be handed to any committee member at the field, who will pass it to either Jim or myself or posted direct to Jim via the address on the form.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE PAID ALREADY AND DO YOUR BMFA INSURANCE THROUGH THE CLUB, BUT NOT COMPLETED A MEMBERSHIP FORM, YOUR RENEWAL CAN NOT BE COMPLETED. SO PLEASE COMPLETE A FORM ASAP.

The committee for 2012 is:

Steve Stokes – Chairman

Jim Vart - Treasurer

Bill Tarn – Secretary

Chris Bradbury - Membership Secretary

Neil McCoy - Webmaster

Jason Rivers

Des Garrett

Simon Kronfeld

Chris

Friendly Reminder

August 31st, 2011 by webmaster

Hi all,

Just a friendly reminder that if you are last one at the field, please could you put the windsock away, it is visible from the road and could attract unwanted attention to the field.

Thanks,

BMAC Committee.

Club Training Day 2

August 15th, 2011 by chrisbradbury

Just a reminder that this Saturday the 20th of August is the next Club Training Day.

The day is aimed at ALL levels and ALL disciplines. So whether you are just starting out or are looking to learn the next fancy trick there should be something for everyone. There are numerous instructors around on the day, both fixed wing and heli and there will also be an examiner on hand for anyone ready to take an A-certification. (Please remember to read your BMFA handbook for the safety knowledge, more details about the tests can be found HERE)

The day will also include a light hearted friendly competition towards the end, so you can put your new skills in to practice. Again this competition is aimed at ALL levels, with numerous ability levels to try in, from beginner to advanced.

If you feel you can help teach others too, all the better. We all have skills to pass to one and other.

Alton Model Flying Club BBQ and Fun Fly

June 30th, 2011 by chrisbradbury

Hi all,

Alton Model Flying Club have invited BMAC members to a BBQ and Fun Fly, which they are having on Sunday the 14th of August 2011 (with a back up date of the 3rd of September if rain stops play).

There will be a small fee (around £5, yet to be confirmed) to cover the BBQ food with the idea you take your own picnic to accompany the cooked food. The more people that go, the cheaper the food will be.

This will be a fun fly event for fixed wing models only, which can include jets, though the usual BMFA regulations and 82db limit will apply. Pilots must be BMFA members and hold an A-certificate.

This will be the first big event at Alton’s new field and they hope it will be a good enough success to make it an annual bash.

If you would like to attend, please email Ian Budgen at ian@modellbauuk.com with your name, address, contact number and BMFA number, so you can be added to their list. Once they have a good idea of numbers they will contact people for food payment in advance.

It sounds like it could be a great day.
