Well, not all fish and chips, you can still get them from your local chippy, theres not been an EU directive banning them, yet . . .
However,
Due to unforseen circumstances (lack of interest) the proposed fish ‘n’ chip supper has been cancelled, there’s still nothing to stop you bringing your own along to the regular club meeting though, as long as you share
Don’t forget that the Summer Solstice flying evening is still going ahead, and the club will be providing a barbeque, so come and fly ’til the sun goes down (quiet electrics only) next Friday evening, the 20th June.

The BMAC have been invited to attend the Bramley Church Fete, next weekend, Saturday 7th June between 12:00 and 15:00, It would be great if we could get some support from the Club with models and help on the display stand, Small foam 3D shocky display and/or electric heli’s would also be great.
Speak to George for more details.

As the Rucstall Community hall is used as a polling station, we naturally wont be able to have our club meeting there this Thursday. The bar is usually still open for business if you need to get out for the evening.

Colin has kindly produced a plan of the flying site showing the flying and no-fly zones, car parking and helicopter training areas. it is viewable from the ‘Map & Directions’ button on the left menu, or by clicking the little icon below.
This plan should be viewed by all members and committed to memory !
In case you do forget, there is a copy hanging up on the notice board inside the container at the field.

Richard (our safety officer) has recently posted a very interesting article on the forum regarding the safe use of model fuels at the flying field.
It’s well worth a look, in fact i’d recommend everyone gives it a read.
The post can be found here.

Update
Ripmax have now issued an official statement, it can be found here.
Hi, it appears that there may be a problem with a few 2.4Ghz Futaba transmitters, it seems that they are all supposed to have a unique id code programmed into them which is matched with a receiver when it is bound to the transmitter, it would appear that a small batch of transmitters have had the programming stage missed during manufacture and hence they all have the same id code, this means that more than one transmitter can control the same receiver, and the consequences are there will be an accident, similar to that with a 35Mhz frequency clash.
There have been a few reported cases in the US, but seems like more in the UK. Ripmax are looking into it.
Don’t be put off, you can still use your transmitter, you just need to check with every other Futaba 2.4Ghz system that is at the field to make sure that they are not affected.
The procedure for checking has been posted on the RCUniverse forums, and i’ve posted a copy here . . . Read the rest of this entry »
