May 6th Club Night

April 7th, 2010 by webmaster

As you may be aware, there is a general election on 6th May and as the Rucstall hall is used as a polling station, club night that night is cancelled.

Some of us may arrange to meet up in a local pub instead, I’ll keep you informed of any decisions as soon as possible.

Update: Some of us will be popping up to the field (weather permitting) on Thursday evening for a spot of ‘quiet’ flying, then retiring to the comfort of The Fox pub in Oakley for a few refreshments, arriving around 8:00pm

Most of you will know the Fox pub, it’s on the main road out of Basingstoke on the way to the flying field. (B3400 Andover Road)

Website Updates

December 4th, 2009 by webmaster

The website, although it may not appear so, has been heavily updated today.

  • As decided at the AGM last night, the Rules and Regulations sections have been renamed to truly reflect their content as ‘Club Constitution’ and ‘Rules & Regulations’, some of the wording within these sections has been altered to reflect the change in titles, this does not alter the rules in anyway, just the titles of the sections.
  • One Committee statement in the Constitution has been change as per the AGM.
  • The Committee details in ‘contact us’ have been updated.
  • The Application form and details have all been updated in line with the decisions made at the AGM.
  • Plus many more tweaks, here and there.
  • Lastly, the backend software has been updated, to make the site more secure.

Cholsey Model Mania

July 17th, 2009 by webmaster

Just a brief note which might interest some of you. Cholsey Model Mania takes place on Sunday 26 July at Cholsey Primary School. Cholsey is in South Oxfordshire 2 miles south of Wallingford.
It is a multi-disciplinary model show so you will see all aspects of modelling on display.
RDMAC organise the flying display and some of you are regular attenders and I hope to see you again this year.
If you would like to fly you must hold a BMFA ‘B’ certificate in the achievement scheme. Be aware that the field just meets the minimum requirements for displays. This means that very fast models or those needing a long shallow approach are not suitable. However Park and Shock flyers, vintage Flair Scout series type models definately are! As an incentive to perhaps be a spectator the organiser advise me this evening that we would need to suspend model flying for a few minutes to allow a fullsize flypast. Two aircraft are involved, the first is a Hawker Hurricane based locally at South Moreton the second is based at RAF Waddington and is an Avro Lancaster! Needless to say the organiser sounded a little smug when he told me this having pulled off what is quite a coup for a village fete!

Horses and Hounds

January 27th, 2009 by webmaster

We’ve received advanced notice of an event taking place around the flying field from the estates office, it is imperative that everyone complies with Ians request.

I just wanted to give you advanced notice of an event that is taking place on the estate on Saturday 28th February this year.
The Vine and Craven hounds are meeting at Manor Farm Deane at 11.am and will be moving off shortly after that going along side your airfield towards the woods. They are laying a trail to follow.
I suggest if you can, to avoid flying any aircraft from about 11.15am until they have gone past you. I reckon they will be passed by 11.45am. just in case any of the horses spook ! There is also the possibility of the odd one coming back pass you through the day, so if you could ask people just be aware of this it would be helpful.
